Four museums, 2027–2029
The show opens at the American University Museum in Washington, DC, in September 2027, a hometown premiere, before traveling to the Lowe Art Museum in Miami, the Asheville Art Museum, and the Palm Springs Art Museum through 2029. Each venue brings its own cultural context to the work, with the Lowe presentation in particular drawing on the University of Miami's Latin American and Caribbean framing and the Catholic reliquary tradition as an entry point. Together the four stops carry a single proposition across very different American audiences: that a country where no one needs to hide is not only imaginable but, through the act of imagining it, already coming into view.
American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center
Washington, DC
The hometown premiere. The museum runs to three floors and 30,000 square feet inside the Katzen Arts Center on American University’s campus, making it the largest university art facility in the Washington region. Its program leans on contemporary work, regional to international, and admission is free.

Coral Gables, Florida
South Florida’s first art museum, founded in 1950, holding more than 19,000 objects across five thousand years. It is also one of very few American museums with a wing built specifically for glass, the Myrna and Sheldon Palley Pavilion for Contemporary Glass and Studio Arts. The Lowe’s presentation draws on the University of Miami’s Latin American and Caribbean framing, and on the Catholic reliquary tradition, as a way into the work.

Founded by artists in 1948 and rebuilt in 2019 with seventy percent more gallery space. The collection is American art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, with real depth in Southern Highlands craft, the legacy of Black Mountain College, and historic and contemporary studio glass.

Palm Springs, California
Founded in 1938 and the largest cultural institution in the Coachella Valley, with particular strength in contemporary art, in architecture and design, and in studio glass. In 2023 it launched Q+ Art, the only permanent program of its kind devoted to LGBTQ+ artists and art histories inside a general art museum, which makes it a fitting last stop for this exhibition.
