The Ghost Army

The Ghost Army is a meditation on absence that refuses to remain silent. It stands for the countless queer lives lost to violence, erasure, disease, and despair, people whose names were often never recorded, whose sacrifices were rarely honored, yet whose courage cleared the ground beneath our feet.

They did not march in uniform. They advanced through love, resistance, care, refusal, and survival. Each life given, whether publicly or in quiet isolation, pushed the world incrementally toward justice. This work imagines them not as victims, but as a collective force: an unseen army moving through time, carrying us forward.

They are the ghosts who make our progress possible, the presence behind every freedom we now claim, the reminder that equality is built not only by the living, but by those who were brave enough to exist before it was safe.
